Usual Goodies from Grave Before Shave

Used to be rum flavored and I liked it but wanted to try something new so I settled on vanilla cigar. As many say, it smells more like gingerbread, cinnamon, Christmas etc. I really like this scent. Sometimes I smell a cigar, but mostly it's the smell of gingerbread. I have a fairly thick and long beard and it doesn't take much. It really makes your beard soft. It's a balm, so if you need something to hold it I suggest wax or something. Sometimes I need to use something with a strong hold due…

Smells like a cheap candle, throw it out

This thing smells like carpet freshener or a cheap candle. I can't say much about how well it moisturizes or softens my beard because I can't stand the smell at all. Not only does it smell like a dollar store vanilla/candy candle, but the scent lasts ALL DAY. It never goes away I was really hoping it would be a good scent based on the reviews I read. But after using it once, it took me a few weeks to try again. I used it for the second time today and I'll throw the jar away when I get home. I…

Plagued by mismatch

*Update 7/1/2020 - after the last jar I bought there was an odd separation of ingredients that seems to be happening with a few balm batches and after trying to salvage this jar a hair dryer (temporarily worked, still parted), I decided to roll the dice on another glass. This one arrived with no separation problem, at least apparently, but also appears to be odorless. It looks like an unscented wax candle. The creators seem to have forgotten to add flavor. Strange. It pains me to write this…

It smells like a candle Not in a good way

I like the product itself. It seems to be doing a great job of conditioning my beard. I have stopped using "regular" setting balms. I always use a "strong finishing balm" or "beard wax" in addition to any balm I apply to keep the frizzy, unruly hair in my beard. Well, my beard doesn't have enough hold, but I haven't found a better standard balm, and I've tried and still use: Honest Amish Beard Balm, Rocky Mountain Barber Company, Smooth Viking, Bossman Beard Jelly, and others. As such, I will…

Updated rating for men

Edit: I changed my star rating to 4. After I emailed a company that makes products with bears on them, they explained that sometimes what I described actually happens and that this can be remedied by melting the content. and let it cool down again. I put it in the oven (the whole mold) for about 10 minutes. When it melted I took it out and let it cool. After cooling, the balm returned to its ideal state and the "grainy texture" disappeared. I'm glad I didn't have to send it back. I love GBS…
