Iron Oxide Rusty Popcorn

Who needs a popcorn grate? Not me. It is doubtful that the engineers of this movement forgot to use stainless steel screws. I'm not a materials scientist, but I understand that pots and other utensils can be washed with water. Even a fourth grader knows that wet metals can rust. Apparently, the team behind this popcorn maker didn't think making everything out of stainless steel was valuable enough. To make matters worse, I couldn't get the company to refund the product. I called and used their…

The lid sucks best in small appliances

Let me try to make it asap. The lid holds up fairly well, but the center bar is too long - when bent, it deforms the shape of the pot so much that the hinged lids won't open or close without serious force. By serious compulsion I mean needle nose pliers. The tiny wooden handles meant to open the lids almost pulled away from me as I performed the hot pot, closed lids, and flaming popcorn dance. In fact it sucks. I tried curling up the edges of a lid to give it some slack, which only made it…

It's okay, but it could definitely be better

My first impressions were that it is much stronger than the aluminum versions with metal gears instead of plastic, stainless steel construction and looks well made. Having used it twice now, I have found that the pot heats evenly and gives a yield of almost 100%. However, there are two concerns: 1. Since it's much heavier than aluminum, it requires two hands and a glove or pillow to pop the popcorn. The vertical shaft is almost 1/4 inch shorter so it doesn't mix the grains causing them to burn.

Not the same. - Special vehicles

I don't know what happened this time. I had the same popper and loved it, but after a few years it started falling apart. We use it all the time, so we're not surprised this happened. It was a great popper and we used it at least a few times a week. Since ours was on its last legs, we ordered a new one. First, the packaging now says Made in China. I was pretty sure my last one was made in the USA. next problem. I open it up and start washing it so we can use it, noticing that the latches…

Goodbye Air-Popper is a GUARDIAN!

I LOVE this! I'm a popcorn addict - love it with lots of butter and salt. I usually buy popcorn in bags or use an air popper and I have to melt the butter separately as the little plate that sits on top doesn't work very well. Got it today and couldn't wait - made the batch before lunch. I add about 4 tablespoons of oil to the heated pan along with 1/2 cup of popcorn. I had it on honey (electric stove) first, I turned it on just below average because it sizzled but didn't burst - and it went. I

Frustrated with small appliances

I bought this popper to replace an old aluminum popper I bought years ago that eventually broke (I really liked that popper btw). I was very excited to get this new one especially with all the great reviews I read. However, I am very disappointed. The agitator doesn't look anything like the one the company shows on their website (curiously, there's no picture of the inside on the Revain site). I am attaching photos for comparison. As you can see the popper I received has a thin wire instead of…

Updated Review 09 Aug 2020 This is my second purchase of this item as new from Revain. The second time I actually got the SST building tool. I have no idea how I experienced the following. The manufacturer doesn't have AL build pots on their website and you can see from the 2 different pictures I posted that there were 2 different materials on 2 different occasions. When you receive your device, make sure it is SST. AL will look like polished aluminum. SST looks like polished SST. It is so…

Superb Popper!: Kitchen & Dining

***Update*** March 27, 2020 Still working fantastic after almost TEN years of continuous use! For your health! I made popcorn against the coronavirus last night. May the Lord have mercy on our world. We pray for all of us! We bought this because we were tired of making popcorn with an air popper and we will never go back. We always found it extremely difficult to mix the butter afterwards and we ended up having a mess when combined with our badly buttered popcorn. Now my wife keeps saying this…

Pros
  • High marks for hold and durability from testers
