The best little hand tools!

They are not made directly by Hakko but by the Italian (I think?) company CHP. Hakko only resells/distributes. Everything I've bought from this company has outlasted any generic competition for the country mile. If you use something like this a lot, just pull the trigger, spend some extra money and thank me later!

Pros
  • 32mm serrated jaw with precision ground surfaces ensures smooth operation
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Jaws not parallel

Not very good for gripping thin objects as the jaws are not parallel, so objects rotate about a point. They don't have the Hakko mark anywhere, so I don't know if they're real. For the price, a locking mechanism to keep them closed for storage would be a reasonable expectation. I'm glad I only bought one to test the brand and not several at once. On the plus side, the handles feel comfortable and the jaws hardly move from side to side.

Pros
  • Flat outer edge makes it easier to access crevices or areas with many components
Cons
  • Expensive

Well made pliers but made in Italy; non-Japan

These pliers are durable, comfortable to use and well made. Stamped steel profiles are hardened and riveted with clever design. Jaws are serrated. Comfortable handles are made of molded plastic and securely attached to steel profiles. These pliers were made in Italy and did NOT carry the Hakko trademark. They are simply marked "PE" and "Model PN-2005" on the handles. For the price, they're a great buy. The only reason I didn't give them four or five stars is because I'm a hard sorter and these…

Pros
  • Dolphin-style non-slip handles offer comfort and control, while the curved leading edge protects hands from cut surfaces
Cons
  • Unsafe

Simply the best. fits needle nose pliers

I also bought a few US (blue) variants and they are fine, good tip shape, alignment, dimensions etc but Hakko combines all the essentials Things; the Hakko curve in the handle allows you to squeeze it with two fingers, the handle material is non-slip. the other has no swelling, and worse, the blue substance is velvety slippery. So my hand keeps slipping down towards the bar if I don't hold it back far. The Hakko have a stopper that only allows them to open to a certain limit (much), the blue…

Pros
  • 32mm serrated jaws with precision ground surfaces for smooth operation
Cons
  • Requires socket
