I will mainly use it when I walk my dogs. I put it on my head and even around my neck and tuck it in my jacket or I can just throw it over my jacket. Then you pull the strings and they tighten around your face. The material is very soft. I bought brown because my jacket is brown.

I take it with me in the truck in an emergency. Made for someone with a slightly smaller head. My head is about medium sized and fits, but it's snug and the hood doesn't come off easily without removing the hat if you can find a hat thin enough to wear underneath. But like I said, I only need it in an emergency in the winter, so if it's cold enough to wear it there's no need to pull the hood up anyway. It would still be nice if it were a bit bigger, but it works.

Feels great and protects very well. Another reviewer noted that face shields aren't enough, and I agree with that statement. To have adequate protection you really need to pull both cords to reduce the hood piece. All in all I would recommend this product

***NOTE*** This size may not fit everyone. Fits most medium to small head sizes. I wear 7 1/4 New Era caps so I don't have a big head. It's a little tight. Therefore, anyone with a large head will face some discomfort when wearing it. And even worse, if you're out in the cold, you'll be putting it on and taking it off multiple times a day. This was a Christmas present for my firefighter cousin. Something he could use after a hard day's work in the cold. But even though he is small it was so tight around his face and the color looked like he had sat in the sun for a while and then the color faded. I like the idea and the material. If only it were a little more elastic.

This face mask is better than expected! It's very warm and the drawstring allows me to tighten the opening around my face as needed. The chin pad can be lowered to open my mouth when I want to eat something. It is very soft and sits comfortably. The hat is long enough to cover the entire neck, if not a little. I'm very happy with it!

Very soft and warm fast mask. The size fits me well. I'm tall (6ft 2in) and skinny, just for reference. Used this when working outdoors in colder weather. +1 for looking like an Assassin's Creed character. The color is nice, dark, neutral, I like it. the non-black hood falls off too much if you think so, but all hoods tend to do so when the drawstring runs across the front.

The second device for the woman. I am an OTR truck driver traveling through the Intermountain West. After telling my wife how warm the balaclava was at -40F she was told to either buy an extra unit or cough mine up. So I bought another one.

This beanie will keep you toasty on cold days and has drawstring ties for extra protection when needed. My only criticism is that they don't stretch much. They fit well when worn, but there doesn't seem to be any "play" in the neck area. I really like it but need to find a way to make it more comfortable around the neck. But not so much that you don't like it.
