Too bad the smell from it is so disgusting, I don't know what it is, but it smells bad. Filled with WD-40, no help. I soaked it in a citrus painter's cleaner (used to clean oil paint brushes), didn't help. I did it again during the day, rinsed it, more WD-40, dried it and 2 weeks later when I walk up to it I can still smell it: much better but I know it will bother me. Wonderful. Instead of buying stronger solvents. I'll just buy another lock.

Heavy-duty cable. It took me HOURS to understand the instructions which were so vague I had to look for someone to help me. Once I had it on the laptop it just hung there and when you put the combo in open mode you still had to struggle and twist the device to get it out of the laptop. If I had known, I would have taken the one with the key. I give.

The Chinese instructions make building the combo a lot harder than it needs to be. Simply set the lock to the default combination of 0-0-0-0, then use a pen or other thin object to press the side button while setting the new combination. The actual security offered by the lock is questionable as it looks and feels like it could be pulled out easily. However, it acts as a very approachable visual deterrent and works great as an extra layer of security in my dorm room. IMPOSSIBLE. The smell woke…
