If you need height, this is the stand!

Very nice stand. Sturdy enough for my pair of C414s, albeit only upright. Using an arrow can get me drunk if I'm not properly aligned with the supports. Or I use 4 pound ankle weights on the base if needed. Overall very good quality, as usual with Hercules. I like its height. Ideal for orchestras or small ensembles.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Attention buyers: Stand

This is the second of these stands that I have purchased. I've had numerous mic stands and none of them have failed after 2 months of simple gigs. Revain asked me to contact the manufacturer first and they asked for everything but a stool sample. Very disappointing considering the stand sells for $80. The grip on them is great when it works. It stopped.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons

The most durable stand ever

So many mic stands are cheap with pull off screws and the hassle of adjusting or sagging. This stand is as solid as ever and won't budge. Some don't like the fact that you can't rotate the stand without loosening the base. As a keyboardist, I like to move the bridge from right to left as I play the different sections of my 88-key setup, but it's well worth it given its durability.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others

Hard wearing and long lasting.

If you are a professional musician this is worth the extra money. All my music stands (guitar, microphone and music stand) are Hercules. Set up and take down only takes a minute. Hard wearing and long lasting. I wouldn't recommend this expensive mic stand if you only need it every now and then, but if you carry around a lot and have a heavy mic stand that's hard to tip over, this is the way to go.

Pros
  • Good workmanship
Cons
  • Factor Set

Excellent stand

Great stand. The best I have ever had. It's not that heavy, it's easy to carry in maneuvers. The up and down jog setting works great, fast and is very easy to hold. It feels like it will last a long time without being too heavy. I really have no complaints, everything works great. I built in a counterpoise because my tube recording mic is quite heavy. if I could buy 20 for $50. Too bad they didn't get a deal with some.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Everything is fine

Drops anywhere off center extension

Construction is decent - mostly metal and fairly solid with plastic thumbscrews and stem adjuster. Seems pretty strong. until you put a microphone and protective cover on it (shure pg58 and PS-6 in my case) and pull the boom out more than halfway. Then it is only stable on one of the legs. Rotate any other angle and everything falls down. I use it for my home studio so I can put it in one place and leave it there, but it will be utterly useless on stage.

Ideal for piano with Shure Beta 58

Love this stand! I use it for vocals with a Shure Beta SM58 while playing piano. When the boom is fully extended and at a 90 degree angle to the outrigger, it may tip over on impact. However, he will still be standing and holding the microphone. I ended up lowering the stand, which is very easy thanks to the quick grip, and I didn't have to lengthen the book as much. Even when used as a stand without an arrow, the arrow slides into the stand which is great. I wasn't sure if it would be on the…

This stand is amazing! The build quality is excellent and very good.

This stand is amazing! The build quality is excellent and it is very durable. The design is amazing. You can quickly adjust the height by squeezing the device on the main shaft with one hand and lifting the inner shaft with the other. No annoying turning and screwing necessary. Likewise, changing the length and angle of the boom is very quick and easy. Finally, the boom extends into the main shaft, transforming it into an elegant straight mic stand. You will not be disappointed. After…

Nice to assemble all at once

First pluses:* Absolutely no boom sag. It's rock solid and stays in place.* The quick-adjust compression mechanism on the vertical section is very comfortable. Especially if you frequently switch from sitting to standing, this allows you to quickly adjust the overall mic height without changing the boom angle (which would then require re-adjusting the mic angle). It is convenient to do this in one motion*. I like having only one piece for the boom (unlike telescopic models) because it's easier…
