📸 Honl Photo 1/4 Speed Grid: Enhance Flash Portability and Control Review

I've waited a while to try it and haven't let me down. Well made, very durable, I would recommend for OCF work. I have used it for weddings.

Please note that the strap on the flash unit you attach this product to is not included. I have to pay for the extra piece of velcro that rips. OTW works as advertised.

Very easy to apply and remove, gives the expected result. A very useful accessory in my portable bag. I also have 1/8" and use both quite often.

Firstly I have a Nikon SB-900 which is a very large flash and the honl is still much larger than the flash head. The honl honeycomb grid is a great idea but I think it could be improved. I don't like that there isn't a rubberized velcro strap that wraps around the flash. Also, the way it attaches with two Velcro straps on the sides makes the mesh feel messy and fluffy. I think it's quite expensive for what you get and the quality of the fit and finish.

Honestly, you can make that out of black straw and insulating tape. When you're paying for one, you want something that works perfectly, is durable, easily tossed in your bag, and light enough not to move the flash head. It does everything the way you want it. It's amazing that a square piece can create such a beautiful oval feathered light - better than a snood if an even shape of light is important to you and you like feathers. However, the honeycomb is quite fragile and there was no solution to carry it in a camera bag (I use a padded envelope). The mechanism that attaches it to the flash is also clever (belt and velcro). I'd rather see some sort of solid flash adapter with snap-on/click-on attachments. I've never had another mesh to compare to…
