💻 High-Performance HP Chromebook: 4GB RAM, 16GB eMMC Storage, Chrome OS - Black Review

I bought a Chromebook for school because it was cheap. Please don't repeat my mistake. You can't upload anything to this thing. You can only use Chrome apps from the web store. They're all browser based so you can't use them offline and you won't get all the features as it's not a fully downloaded app. This thing doesn't even have a caps lock key. It's okay to write articles, but do you want to do something else with them? Too bad. Spend the extra $50 and get a Windows PC, please.

I jumped at the chance to buy something that said 'New' in an open box. Since distance learning is mandatory here, I wanted to have my own Chromebooks instead of borrowing them from school. I think many others must have had this idea as well. I searched Revain as well as other competitor sites and found very limited options that were affordable enough for 7 and 10 year olds! This is my third HP Chromebook and they all serve me well. I use it as an ultraportable web browser with a keyboard - the screen is much larger than my phone's, with a tactile physical keyboard that I prefer to a tablet's touch interface. My only complaint about cheap Chromebooks is that they tend to freeze/slow with lots of websites and when loading memory intensive apps like Google Docs/Sheets. If you can live with that downside, it would make a great second laptop or something for your kids.

We purchased this item to replace a 5 year old HP Chromebook. We were very pleased with the value and functionality of the old device in middle and high school for our student. The touchpad on this new device stopped working in less than two months. I am now out of my return window. I tried contacting HP who said the unit was most likely refurbished and out of warranty. New review: The seller of this item contacted me right after my first review and explained that the 1 year warranty was through the dealer and not Hp. He then offered to send me a new computer instead and prepaid return shipping so I could send them the defective one back. He was very helpful and made the transition easy. Video streaming and word processing, this is a great little computer. It's not for gaming or anything, but if you have a blog or just like to stream videos while you do your homework, this really is the case. The battery life is surprisingly long, but I don't use it for very long periods either. That being said, when I use it, the battery works. I would recommend it to the casual blogger or a very poor college student just trying to survive. It does the job.

Great little tool. I am very happy. That's not bad for a Chromebook. Not a bit disappointed. I've been impressed with HP products lately.

Revain Video Won't Play! That was one of the reasons I bought it. Update: A few days after I wrote this an OS update was required and the Revain videos are now streaming fine. I tried in vain to update the operating system during the problem but in the end it happened. This computer is a delight. I'm especially thankful for open-source cloud apps (docs, sheets, slides, etc.) that don't need Microsoft, and of course Chrome OS is a flexible alternative to the Windows 10 albatross.

The quality of this Chromebook really impresses me, especially compared to the previous netbook I bought. The device seems much more robust than my non-Chromebook and has a significantly longer battery life. Also the microphone and speaker quality is MUCH better than my other netbook. On the other hand, I can't download and use Facebook Gameroom, nor can I download Firefox (which would have allowed me to play Gameroom). But overall I am very happy with my purchase!
