It's quite big at the moment. Yes, yes, I know there's never too much storage space. This provides a sufficient amount for now. It's small enough to fit in a pocket or Velcro on the outside of a Chromebook and in a laptop bag.

So I bought this because I needed a 500GB hard drive and I once got 2x 250GB hard drives that leads into the Wrong and they are Inaccurate about their product I requested a refund and sent it back but they wanted to charge me an extra dollar for sending me a return label which I didn't want to pay after they misrepresented the item had labeled. It's not 590GB, it's 2 separate chips of 227GB each, so I filed a lawsuit with Amazon and they fixed it for me because it's wrong to charge me more…

First, it works very well. The two parts are the drive itself (which works well) and the top part which has a small cable attached. The two parts are held together magnetically. The only downside is the short cable. but runs small. A reasonable compromise for my purposes.

Small, plug and play and there when you need storage. But I think the best part is that this is an HP product and it works when you need it.

It's nice that this is a portable SSD at this price point, but it's exceptionally unreliable. One has already been replaced after not being installed and the replacement unit, while working, appears to be of poorer quality as the magnetic locking system barely holds up. It also causes Finder and Windows Explorer to become very unstable and crash after using them for some time and after removing them, system performance returns to normal.

good product. High read and write speed. My only problem is that when I plug it in, it shows up as two separate drives. Not two partitions, but two separate disks. You can fix this (to an extent) with the included encryption software, but then your drive will be fully encrypted and can only be used for secure storage. I haven't found a way to merge two hard drives yet. Will update the review when HP provides a solution.

However, as others have pointed out, the drive contains three independent controllers: two 125.0GB drives and a read-only 49.4MB drive that is recognized as a CD-ROM.
