Description of 🌀 Hurricane Seam Metal Straightener
【Manual Hand Seamers Sheet Metal Tools】 Use as a sheet metal duct bender for HVAC projects. 【Precision Seamer】 Casting jaws are marked in 1/4 inch bending increments. 【Comfortable and Safe Design】 Non-Slip Pitted handle for maximum power and comfortable operating range. Safety lock and hanging hole for easy carrying and storage. 【Build to Last】 Heavy duty all steel construction with nickel plated finish for durability. 【Ideal for Construction Projects】 Jaw folds 18-gauge Galvanized sheet, 30-gauge Cold-rolled steel sheet and 30-gauge stainless steel. Ideal for bending, stitching, and flattening sheet metal. Non-ferrous metals without the need for heavy-duty power tools.
Advantages: Wide jaws, good grip, solid construction. Cons: Heavy jaws make it quite unbalanced, handles are short to add leverage for a firm grip, they don't snap onto metal, causing some slippage between alignment and flex.
The "lock" function doesn't seem to be that important as the tool is not fully closed when in use. It would be nice if it fixed the workpiece, like pliers, making it easier to bend metal. It wasn't exactly easy to bend 90 degrees as expected either, but it did the job for my needs for the price.
Almost 99% like the product, the downside was that the locking mechanism has no adjustment shank for different metal thicknesses. Ideal for joining 24-20 gauge sheet metal, but anything thicker will slip through the jaws and anything larger will not cover the jaws. As mentioned, this is a good tool, just without the height adjustment shank.
This hand tool easily bends thinner metal commonly used for armor. Its jaws are divided into ¼ inch segments to make straight or slightly curved curves. There is a depth limit, but you can crease deeper curves with a metal ruler. If you need to replace firmware, this is the tool to use in most situations. If you don't have a metal folding brake, this tool should do the trick. You can get lengths up to 12 inches for straighter folds.
The capping machine is therefore heavy and looks well built overall. All pivot points are free of tilt and play. The bad thing is that this tool is designed to create straight curves, but the alignment of the upper and lower jaws on the leading edge is misaligned. So if you fold down the crease will not line up as they are almost 3/16 inch offset. Since the jaws are molded the easiest way to fix them would be to simply sand/file the leading edges once the ruler is assembled, now I have to do…
