We used it to scrape paint off large pendants!

I know it's not marked as a scraper knife, it worked well for us on this app! Heavy duty construction (used on a long extension) we have used this to remove old peeling paint from stock trailers before repainting. The only thing we had to change for our use was that we sharpened the sharp pointed edge into the curved part so it doesn't snap against the surface as the rivets pass.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • I'll write back later

Not the same quality as before.

I've been a drywall builder for a little over 31 years. I've been using Hyde band knives all along. My Hyde knives have lasted me 4-5 years. You would only wear yourself out. No longer. New Hyde knives tend to break after a few months of use. Looks like Hyde is using cheap alloy for their knives. I would not recommend professionals to buy Hyde tools. You will be disappointed.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Some shortcomings

Nothing for people from the trade.

I was wondering why the words 'stainless steel' are on this stainless steel item. Shouldn't stainless steel be rust resistant? Now I know why, the blade is bare steel with a stainless steel coating. The edge of the blade will rust instantly, leaving fine lines or burrs in the drywall clay after the first use. I was also surprised at how thin the blade is, generally poorly made.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Available in white only

Quickly became a favorite

I'm so used to using a 4" tape knife and large square topcoat knife that I was hesitant to try this 6" version to buy. I switched to stainless steel entirely as I mostly work in small areas and I don't have the time or opportunity to do a thorough cleaning until I get home. Despite my love for my old instruments, I use this one more and more often. I think it's not just about the shape, it's also about the balance – it's just great and it fits in a small space.

Pros
  • High marks for hold and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as others
