🛢️ 500ml (17 fl.Oz) Hydrophane Leather Darkening Oil Review

I did two Dark Oil western saddles with it this week. With just two coats of paint with a brush, the saddles look like new again. In the photo there is only the wing - the red tint on the skin has disappeared. Apply generously - I was only able to apply two coats per saddle and will have to order another bottle.

Great product. I used it for my new raw natural western saddle. I used a standard brush and applied a thin layer once a week for a month that darkened the color really badly. I waited another month and applied another light coat and it's now a nice deep rich rust color. It took one and a half of those cans, but my saddle was completely unfinished, unsealed. You will get different results if your skin is already toned or sealed.

This material works exactly as described. It also gives the skin a pleasant scent. I used it to darken an overly light watch strap I bought and also my wallet which was also over light. It took a while for the oil to soak in, but then it looked great. I recommend giving it some time to soak in after application. Leather takes time to soak in and you may need to work on the leather a little and reapply to allow it to soak in some areas. The oil will bleed a bit after applying this leather item…

Update May 15, 2018: I'm still so glad I found this oil! Fantastic staying power for a chair that I use every day. Initially it tended to transfer traces of oil to the paper placed over it, but no more, but the color remains a beautiful deep brown (it was originally caramel). Amazing results, seriously. Before that I used another oil, which I got here at Revain, but it turned out to be blotchy and didn't make the color deep enough to hide the occasional small blemish. Then I found hydrophane…
