I had to look for a replacement, the first one was defective

Be sure to test this SSD before you start using it. The first one I got was acting strange. First format failed. Once the drive is set to the correct format, it makes loud intermittent "chirping" noises, becomes very hot during operation, and appears to freeze during data transfer. It also wouldn't properly detach from my MacBook even if the drive wasn't working, and "forced eject" resulted in the drive becoming completely corrupt! Since I was using it for Time Machine backups, this was a bitโ€ฆ

Speed โ€‹โ€‹External SSDs

450 MB/s write speed is not correct. It maxed out at 49 MB/s at times and averaged around 38/39 MB/s, which is less than 10% of the advertised 450 MB/s. The weight of the product is good, but that is secondary. Hyundai should definitely pay attention to this. buy returns.

Complete Garbage - External SSDs

When I first connected it to my Windows 10 PC, I found that this external SSD was formatted with the FAT32 file system. So I'm trying to format it to exFAT, which is widely accepted. After a long boot process, I get an error message that the drive cannot be formatted and is no longer recognized by the PC. Trying to format it again (NTFS this time) gives the same results. Other external SSDs come with the exFAT file system by default, and formatting an external drive shouldn't damage it. Zeroโ€ฆ

Not bad - external SSDs

Extremely light and portable. It's also a lot smaller than I thought. Fits in the palm of my hand. I don't always have high speeds. Average about 20-40 mb/s, peak 60-80 mb/s. Still works well for editing videos stored on an SSD. would recommend.

Great little external SSD!

Like everyone else, I never knew Hyundai made anything other than cars. But after reading about the drive and wanting something smaller than my current external drive, I took a chance. And it's a very cool unit! It writes fairly quickly, is very portable, and I love the fact that it's powered by a USB connection. In general - very satisfied, definitely worth buying.
