Discard the tape with an Idea display. Use bracket

I used this bracket to mount an Idea gear indicator on an old lady's Honda Rebel. looks clean The bracket looks OEM as opposed to using the dodgy double sided tape that came with the gear indicator. I don't think it's 3M double sided tape. Some might say this mount is a bit pricey at $20 for a piece of plastic. I agree. However, the alternative (cheap double-sided tape) doesn't come to mind. The gear indicator, which you can also get from Revain, currently costs around $50. So you're looking…

It's worth it, I'd like it cheaper

Yamaha FZ1 2009. Fits. The screws that came with it were too short. I was able to use the top screw but had to use the spare screw. I didn't use the glue that came with it. I wish it was cheaper but it works.

Pros
  • Strong and reliable
Cons
  • I have no particular complaints about it, everything is fine

The switch indicator didn't move at all!

I have a Honda CB300R. I took it to the dealer and they installed the shift indicator. I gave this holder to the dealer and the dealer used it. There were no problems. My advice is to have the dealer install the shift indicator and holder if you are unsure of your skills.

Pros
  • No damage
Cons

Easy to install but useless! Very rarely shows the correct gear

I drive a Suzuki C90T. Like most big V-twins, it doesn't have a tachometer or gear indicator. Found this at Revain and thought it would be a good addition if I don't remember which aisle I was in. The indicator was relatively easy to install. I also bought a mount. After installing I started my bike and a nice green 0 came up and then a nice green 6. I figured I just needed to sync it up so I took the bike out for a run. The display never showed the correct gear for more than a few minutes…
