Installation on the leg with

All the plugs in my home and office have the ground part of the plug on top. This means that this product will be installed upside down, rendering the iPhone support branches useless.

Good, but! c Power Strips & Power Strips

The only downside to this device is that the brackets aren't big enough for the new 'wider' smartphone. Hook it up with a few short (6") cables and you've got a neat, clean install.
