I've found that some of the cheaper kits come with wires advertised as 8 gauge, but when you actually get them you'll find something like 14 gauge wire with a lot of heavier insulation. .This wire is 8 gauge thin copper wire with good insulation. I routed the InstallGear cable in my car where it goes from the battery pack to the amp. After about 18 months the plastic insulation (casing, whatever) broke at various exposed spots in the engine compartment exposing the copper conductor.
