📸 Tether Tools Jerkstopper: Camera Support for Tethering Review

I can't believe I waited so long to buy one of these. I connect my 7D to Adobe Lightroom on my tablet. I've encountered issues in the past where a long USB cable fell out of my camera and halted my workflow. I recently had the opportunity to use this for on-site corporate photography. Once connected, I could forget the cable and focus on the recording.

If you've invested in a security cable for your camera and want to prevent it from becoming detached or fraying the cable near the mount (or worse, the camera inlet itself) and damaging it ), then this is a fantastic product. When shooting without tethering, the part that remains attached to the camera does not interfere with normal operation, and when shooting with tethering, it works perfectly. I'm a professional boudoir/portrait photographer and this little guy changed my fucking life.

This doesn't work with my camera cable. A Tether Tools cable must be present for it to work properly. My cable is too flimsy and the clip doesn't even come close to holding it in place. I won't spend another 30+ just for cables because I don't need 15ft, I only need 6ft to work in a small space. If I had known this wouldn't work with my camera cable, I would have just taped the connector like I used to.

I bought this JerkStopper so I don't accidentally pull the USB cable out of the camera while charging the Sony A7RII while taking pictures. I also have one attached to a longer USB cable that I use when taking pictures and tethered to a computer. JerkStopper is excellent for both purposes. Its design allows the use of cables of different cross sections. I believe this will also help protect the USB port on my camera better as it turns out that if/when the USB port on my camera becomes loose…

I have doubts about the name of this product. I don't know how well this will prevent the USB cable from being pulled out of the port. The plans are not known. The tether or "string" that you tie to the camera strap ring is very thin. Weak connection. For the money it could be a bit more reliable. Nothing replaces careful handling of the cable. I bought it as a cable strain relief. I place the clamp on the cable where the cable just exits the connector (as pictured) before it begins to curve…

Put simply, Jerkstopper is an effective and rather flimsy solution to the very problem of wired photography.
