I originally bought this shirt for my "Agents of Asgard Loki" cosplay - it was supposed to have long sleeves and more room and I really wasn't expecting anything other than a t-shirt. If you want a *real* heavy shirt, get Carhartt. Period. They are more accurately described as average weight. But for the price, they're better than any other long sleeve shirt I've had in years. I have bought these many times and although they are cheap my husband and son say the quality is excellent. I buy these plain shirts to wear under other shirts. The material is not thin, has a decent thickness. While it's not thermals I will say it's better than some thermals I've bought which were so thin I'm not sure if it will keep anyone warm but it will keep them warm and not thermals and that material it is permanent. These shirts are not as soft as they should be. I have older ones that are much softer. One would think that many washes of older models would soften them. And of course that can be a factor. But they are NOT soft, even after several washes they are still prickly. I guess I won't be ordering online again unless someone checks the softness. Of course I can't see that in the picture.
