Not sure about the strength - for both a 140lb person and a 230lb person, the chair makes a few creaking noises when you sit in it, but they are comfortable.

These are cool chairs. These chairs are very comfortable with excellent back support. I painted the legs black to match my furniture. What I didn't like was that one of the screws to attach the legs to the chair was missing. Otherwise these chairs are great!

Very nice unique design. Looking for something a little minimalist but with good back support. There was also a small area for placement, so the footprint had to be marginal. The chair is ideal for guests who sit but are uncomfortable watching hours of television. The legs can wobble a bit, but they can probably be modified to be stronger. But compared to similar chairs in designer stores, they look the same but are a lot cheaper, so don't complain.
