Expensive but works I have a water filter at Katadyn Base Camp that works great. I've been on several backpacking trips to different parties and it works way better than other pump filters I've seen on others. I've used it in Colorado and New Mexico. The water filter at Katadyn Base Camp is a gravity-based system. Just fill it with water and hang it on a tree and it will do the work for you. Update: Added two stars for good customer service. I contacted Katadyn directly through their website with my complaint and they sent me a free replacement. Let's hope the problem was just a bad batch of cartridges. I'll update again as soon as I get a chance to see if the new replacement works better. I'm still afraid to rely on it.
