Very good solder, suitable for soldering and soldering equipment

This solder works very well for me. Had a good flow and made a really good push. I even had to desolder, and with this solder it was a breeze. I highly recommend it.

Pros
  • High mobility and quick action
Cons
  • I will add later

Best solder I've used (so far)

Kester Solder was recommended by someone who mods consoles for a living. I wasn't disappointed - this stuff flows AMAZING. Flows well even without flux. You still have to use flux (MG Chemicals makes a good flux if that's what you're looking for) but this solder is good on its own.

Pros
  • (3) 0.5oz Kester Pocket Pack Solder Tubes.
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Kester solder is great

I do electronic projects (mainly with Teensy 3.x boards from PJRC.COM) and I'm moving towards making prototypes of solid boards rather than breadboards and use jumper wires. I bought Kester Solder on the recommendation of other users. It flows great and works better than the nameless solder I used before.

Pros
  • For soldering electronics and low volume
Cons
  • Some cons

Kester Solder is great

I do electronic projects (mainly with Teensy 3.x boards from PJRC.COM) and am transitioning to making stationary prototype boards instead of using prototyping boards and jumpers. I bought Kester Solder on the recommendation of other users. It flows great and works better than the nameless solder I used before.

Pros
  • Welding and Soldering
Cons
  • Expensive

Getting used to it

I recently ran out of the last 1980's RadioShack 60/40 .32 that I've used for years. And I've heard good things about Kester solder so I bought it to try. I did a lot of point work when soldering, so I expected it to be like old Shack solder. I found it flowed too well. There were problems tinning the newly striped wire. I tried adjusting the temperature of the iron but no change. I'll try swapping out the iron tip to see if that helps, but I'm open to other suggestions.

Pros
  • Solder and Flux
Cons
  • Out of fashion
