These are not bright enough to be a real light source for reading, entertaining, etc but are a nice compliment in the background.
The light spread is mostly downward and horizontal rather than upwards (the light element is downward facing in the cap) so placing on the ground and/or near a wall is best. They are very lightweight but ours just survived 30mph wind gusts without blowing over - perhaps due to the porous design.See full review

The dress was beautiful and I received many compliments the only thing to look out for are the beads in the back that secure at your neck… There were only two and should have been three and they were not secured very well so by the middle of the day both of them had come off and I was not able to secure the collar. Purchased these to help when shooting 06 from the bench. With the rifle sitting on bags when I shoot the recoil tends to put the trigger guard into my knuckles. They didn't fix the problem but they help mitigate the pain. I don't have any experience with this type of glove to make a comparison. My analysis of this product showed that its a waste of money. The material is scratchy and doesn't wick moisture well. As a result of my tests I determined that this starter failed to perform at even basic levels of performance. I received a pair of bluetooth headphones from my work, and wanted to get a pair for my spouse. And let me tell your, these sound just as great as the $200 pair I received from work. This product is the worst doesn't cut. Trying to cut wood and first it gets stuck on the button 1 and 2 when a put it on 3 it goes up and down soooo wild that can't control it it take over my arm and it barely cut the wood.
