I bought it because the old key internals had died and needed a second key. I couldn't find anywhere else to cut the key other than the dealer and they wanted over $100. Forget it, this is a 2005 van that doubles in value if I fill up. I swapped out the insides and used the old key, although the key hook was broken. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't do it.

My husband's factory key case was completely worn out and he looked all over the area to try and buy a case and use the key he had. We didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars going to the dealer to get a brand new 2005 minivan key that we use to haul things that we can't fit into our SUV or that don't want to ruin our SUV. Buy another one as a replacement when this new one wears out.

This key works very well. The hardest part is finding a locksmith to cut it for you since you didn't buy it from them. Actually, this is the second one I've bought. The plastic holding the key shank to the body is broken. It is good that the shaft is actually screwed into the body. So I bought this new blank key, took out the empty key shank and screwed in the broken key shank, replaced the electronics and voila! new key!

This item arrived quickly and exceeded my expectations. I was only wanting to get the body part of the key fob just because the small round area that connects to the key ring fell off. The key fob came in a hard plastic case with a key. Now you have to cut out part of the key at a key store or kiosk, which can cost you around $5, but don't fall prey to scammers who want to charge you $140 or more to program your key fob for you. Copes with the job. It's nice to be able to replace a broken key fob or worn buttons that you can no longer read. I would give it 5 stars but you can't just take the old key out of the fob and put it in the new one. The design is so different that you have to use the blank key that comes with the new one and cut it off somewhere.
