Not exactly self-programming, but in OEM quality. A+

Same as dealer OEM key. You can unlock/lock the controls yourself (which isn't difficult), but the start/start must be done by a dealer or key master who has a pocket computer to program <— That was the only disappointing part. But it works great!

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Expensive

Works perfect! I used my old key fob chip and put it in the new one

Works great in my Honda! Saved me a ton of money the dealer wanted on a new key. If you have an old key fob, you can remove the chip and put it in this key fob. If you don't, this key fob needs to be programmed by a locksmith and it cost me $30. I had my old key fob and watched this video and was able to remove the chip and use it. Worked as a prefect and only cost me $3 to carve a key! Watch this video on how to remove an old chip from an existing key fob and save big…

My master key broke

My master key broke off the keychain about a year ago. It was too expensive for the dealer to make me a new key and it would probably take a lot longer than the short 2 days I was waiting for and I saved about $200. It was easy to program the key fob myself, but then I had to cut the key and program the chip. It took some time to find someone to carve the key as the cut is engraved. I finally found a locksmith who made me an offer and now I have a whole key! At first I thought I could just use…

DO NOT BUY! IT BREAKS

I've had this key for 7 months and it's falling apart. The plastic case only broke during normal use. It's either in my pocket or in my car's ignition and it's falling apart. Even if they sent me a new one, the expensive part would be programming and cutting the key, so I'd still be losing $50. I had to glue it together and use tape and rubber bands to keep this stupid thing from breaking into 3 pieces. I wish I could buy a real Honda key. It would be cheaper in the long run. I recommend giving

What a great key. Huge money and time savings!

Don't listen to these negative reviews. I ordered this key for my Honda Ridgeline truck. ACE Hardware cut it for $20, then I programmed it, which was quick and easy (takes about 30 seconds). Look up the procedure on Utube for your car brand. So easy. A factory Honda key would cost around $50, and a Honda dealer will charge around $200 to program a new key (what an unnecessary rip off). The buttons lock and unlock my car and the key fits in my ignition and starts the car, no problem. So the key…

A MUST if your outdated remote controls no longer work.

Just minutes before stepping in here I just programmed one of two keys I ordered for my 2006 Honda Ridgeline truck. I used the video on UTube for instructions (I was able to do it fairly quickly, but I played around a bit and deviated from the video tutorial before concentrating :)). Just a couple of points. 1) Passkey is NOT required. As long as you have a working key, you're good to go. 2) If you are using your original key/radio key at the same time as programming the replacement car key…
