KN 170 Harley Davidson Performance Filter Review

I use this oil filter on both my 2015 Road Glide and 2006 Sportster. This makes maintenance a lot easier when it comes time to change the oil. The nut attached to the top of the filter is very convenient. Especially when it's time to remove and replace. The cost is comparable to Harley OEM and I have been using this type of K&N filter for over six years. Seems to work just as well as OEM.

What can I say, it's an oil filter. If you buy this you're at least halfway through oil changes. I only use K&N now. But don't be fooled by the fact that the small screw can and will end up loosening if the filter is overtightened. I had to rip out the Vise Grips to finally get them off. But I bought another one. And will probably continue to buy them. K&N has never failed me with any of their products.

Whoever put the last oil filter on my 883 Sportster should be shot considering I had to use the largest pair of channel locks, those from the Crooked Crescent Wrench were made to take it off. Fortunately, other expensive devices on the motorcycle were not affected. K&N makes a quality product and the attachment/removal of the "nut" that is molded right into the top of the cap is just well thought out. Thank you for your intelligent design.

I've been using K&N air and oil filters on my Sportster since I've had one. This oil filter has always done its job. I change the oil and filter every 3000 miles and this filter makes the job easier. I love the "twist off" option on this filter, although the last one I ordered was slightly different in size and the regular 7mm wrench I use every time I take the filter off and I use one Had to use rubber filter wrench to remove it. .
