Stable workhorse

I like this medium format film - it loads easily into the processor and the larger negative gives a much sharper enlargement. It produces good, crisp negatives (unless you're forced to use it in a holga where 11 out of 12 shots are terrible, but one that works will be worth it). I love having really square negatives as I like to print in square format and don't like cropping part of the image with other negative sizes.

Pros
  • Fine grain, good for high quality images.
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for elderly

This is the best black and white film of all time.

This may sound like an exaggeration and needs clarification, but it is generally true. It's not the finest, fastest, or most contrasting film. But it's a solid, reliable, consistent and beautiful film that anyone interested in film photography should try. It can be increased up to 1600 ISO (my own experience) with acceptable results. It has a classic look and all the greats have used it at some point (Salgado almost exclusively directed this film). Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Wide exposure range Rich tonality is preserved through over and under exposure.
Cons
  • Negative present

Tri-X is the default as

Tri-X is a fantastic film that I have used for years. I used this in my Hasselblad and also played with vintage cameras. In any case, this is a great film. Many photographers find their own way of getting the results they want, either by adjusting what they do in camera or by adjusting the development time. I myself am a cooler and slower girl. Professionals can get great results from this film, as can people who have just picked up a camera. I find the tonal range absolutely perfect, from the…

Pros
  • High Sharpness suits applications that require moderate magnification.
Cons
  • Makes me nervous
