THERE ARE BETTER GFO

This is a powder, I've ordered it more than once and stopped because I found a better brand that doesn't send me GFO powder. It sticks together and you need to lift it a lot before using it. it works, but there are better ways

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Doesn't wash out like other brands.

The grit is coarser than the Fosbane I usually get so it doesn't wash out in my media reactor which is great. Reduces phosphate levels and rinses well before each use. I am using this in an innovative seawater nano aquarium reactor.

Pros
  • Permanent Test Results
Cons
  • Almost OK

Terrible product, no wonder it's so cheap

If I could leave a negative review I would. This product is terrible. We received it and the reef shop told us to rinse the medium thoroughly before using it. We rinsed it with cold running water about 15 times and each time we got dirty brown water. We couldn't clean it because, as many have said, the granules are almost like sand. DO NOT BUY THIS OR WASTE YOUR MONEY. HORRIBLE TO AVOID.

Too much waste because it's mostly powder.

Don't judge by the picture. The product is mainly a powdered material with a small amount of granules in the photo. Chemically it may work, but except in a very, very small mesh bag or other container, this product is too small. Maybe 10-20% is as rough as in the photo. Out of the 3 brands I've used, this is the worst quality. The own brand F&S has proven itself best, a well-known trademark, the second, last. Lots of waste.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Empty

Just buy another brand

GFO works fine BUT buying it is like gambling. You don't know if the container you buy will have a lot of dust or not. You need to work on quality control. The previous container I bought had almost no dust, lots of perfect sized pellets. I wasn't so lucky this time. There's a lot of dust in the hopper and the pellets are tiny, they look like they'll turn to dust if I even breathe in their direction lol. Just buy another brand that has better quality control. There are many reliable brands out…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • weak

Homemade ChemiPure Elite

I use this in my 20 gallon long reef aquarium. I mix 2 grams per gallon, that's 15 by counting the stones in Boyd's material bag, with almost half a cup of Black Diamond Carbon, tie it up with a reusable zip tie and pop it into one of my two AC50s. I change it monthly and my PO4 is always 0.02-0.00, crystal clear water and no algae issues. I compress it during my weekly water changes to ensure a good flow as it never sticks together and I put some filter floss on top to improve contact with the
