Improved Contact and Braking with Rim Brakes

Shims require some friction to set properly, but allow the use of calipers that are not perfectly perpendicular to the rim. Braking is quiet and significantly improved over 40mm pads. Pads adjust themselves when worn. I love Kool Stop pads and pads from the late 1900's! PS - it's worth taking the tires off the rims when you mount them, but no one does.

Hey, it's KooStop. Sure It's Awesome

Cool Stop Surpra is nothing more than an eagle with various spacers; which means, like the Eagle Pads, it will last forever, has VICE LIKE stopping power and you won't regret buying it. I've been using them for YEARS but the V-Brake commercial is done and done; Get the right pads and save the BUNCHA's weight compared to the disc and get the same great stopping power. I've used them for years to haul HUGE loads, do things most of them just aren't crazy enough to do in places most wouldn't suitโ€ฆ

Dear sweet mother Squeak!

I've only read good things about Kool Stops (mostly the salmon colored version though). So I might have a pair of lemons. May be. But these things squeaked like a witch cooked in oil no matter how I adjusted them and what I did, at least a dozen times. Tried toes, tried grinds (both discs and pads), tried cleaning my discs, NOTHING could get rid of that ungodly disgusting head twisting pedestrian squeak. Anyway, they were on a Critical Cycles single speed bike, also bought from Revain. So Iโ€ฆ

Works as well as Salmon on dry roads but seems to last longer

I have been using Salmon brake pads for over 2 years now but have not found any use in the rain. The black shoes are made for dry conditions and I believe they will probably last longer and retain heat better when the heat builds up or fades. So far they are doing great. They don't squeak as much as salmon but still tend to rattle a bit with my cheap aluminum wheels. After a few hard stops (often on a wooden bridge where I had to practically stop on the way down) I didn't notice any brake dust.
