I bought this puzzle so my little ones can know and keep up with where dad is going. Still, I really like the durability of this puzzle, the pieces are thick and easy for my little ones to handle. What I didn't understand was that multiple states are one. Most New England states are grouped into several parts, and then North Carolina/South Carolina and Virginia/West Virginia form one part. All right. I bought it to use in the summer and to introduce my grandson to the study of the states and their capitals. He just turned 5 years old, he has a great memory but. The pieces don't fit exactly, so they shift. I think if the name of the state and then the capital were written on the bottom of the board, it would be the best tool for beginners to learn not only the states but also the geography and not just try to fit the shape. Update - I was fooled too. At first I thought it was just very thin and brittle pieces of wood (which was also a problem) but now I see it's cardboard with stickers on the back of the pieces printed to make it look like wood. The board itself is made of pressed wood with printed stickers glued on. The printed sticker was easy for the child to tear off as it peeled off a bit when taking it out. Personal experience: This was a lightning fast purchase for my kids Easter basket. Very robust design and my children understood the colorful lucky shapes relatively quickly. The puzzle fits well when all the pieces are aligned. I used to have a jigsaw puzzle that just fit perfectly and it annoyed my kids. Some of the edges of the puzzle pieces are smudged because my kids spilled water on them so I took off a star for that, but the pieces still fit together. I would advise getting something to…
