Perfect replacement for outdoor lighting!

The socket in the princely old lamp post was defective and I thought I'd have to replace the bracket but this well designed socket fitted surprisingly well into the existing hole in the base as if it were for a lamp did. It may be a standard size, but I couldn't have gotten a better fit from whoever made the bar mount.

OK, but not perfect. Doesn't compact the base of the building as much as I'd like.

I've tried both this and Cooper Wiring Devices 145-BOX Bulb socket with bungee cord and box, medium base. This Pass & Seymour unit is well made, but its collar around the lamp base is not as high as Cooper's and does not seal the lamp base as well as I would like. I'll stick with the Cooper product.

This is the best rubber lamp socket available

Basically I bought all of these brands to find the best one. I started with the Leviton version but found the shortcuts tab below terrible. If you connect a lamp with a longer center pin, the tab may bend down too much to work with other lamps. This Pass & Seymour has a much better design and should last forever. I wanted to use this to mount a lamp on a panel and didn't want to use a two piece porcelain light fixture or a large keyless key. I wasn't sure how this would work, but with a 1-1/2"…
