The material is pleasant - it looks smooth and shiny, like bathing suits, but thicker. My daughter liked the color but it was MUCH smaller than the size of the product. I ordered size XL (12-14) and it barely fit my 9 year old. She's tall for her age, which is why I ordered TWO sizes up. The swimsuit fitted her body perfectly, but was tight under the armpits, according to her. I didn't want to make her uncomfortable so we returned it.

I read the reviews and suggestions before I bought this for my daughter (who is 5 years old) and I really appreciate my purchase. When it arrived it fit but was still too tight which after a while started bothering her shoulders and just had little red marks from being too tight. I recommend getting 2 sizes bigger. That hasn't stopped her from wearing it as part of her Halloween costume and when her gymnastics resume I'll be buying more of these, just twice as many.
