Pay extra and buy a good wireless adapter

I usually pay extra and buy Linksys. However, I thought I would try this wireless adapter. Absolute waste of time and money. I set up the adapter and even though it was right next to the AC router, it didn't stay plugged in and showed a bad connection. Then I bought a Linksys AC1200. This adapter is easy to install and shows an excellent connection to the router. Again, don't waste your money or time. Buy a good quality WiFi adapter.

Works great - update

I ordered this without knowing exactly what I need, turns out I hit it on the head. At first there was only one download of about 5 Mbps and 1 download. After spending most of the day talking to Comcast about my internet speed, I pay around 100Mbps and I know WiFi is always less than wired, I determined the problem was my surfboard modem/router combo . All I did was set it to 5 instead of 2.4, now I'm getting 95-100Mbps wireless. I never realized how many things in this house are wireless and…

Good general purpose adapter

Needed a wireless desktop adapter to replace an (old) separately powered power strip that was taking too long to boot up every time I wanted to use the PC. There is nothing special about my environment - no long trips from the router or other problems. Plugged this adapter into a USB 3 port, walked away, came back 5 minutes later and it installed itself (on Windows 10) - the system found its drivers online using a different internet connection. SpeedTest shows my throughput at maximum internet…

Cons
  • Good but not great

I bought this because my laptop's built-in WiFi adapter was very slow. It was thin enough to fit in a USB slot and still allow another USB slot to be plugged into a USB hub (this didn't work with the other adapter I bought previously). So slimness is a plus, so let's start with that. Also, it installed automatically within a few seconds and when I checked, the speed was very fast. I loved it and started using it for a few calls. Unfortunately the calls (google meeting) started skipping audio…

This price can't be beat for the performance.

I researched the price/performance ratio of USB WLAN adapters. After getting the specs I wanted, I looked up the price and found this one. Bought and speed tested to see if it works as advertised. Did a test with the Ookla Speed Tester on the 5 GHz channel. performance is top notch. Standard material (plastic) is very light, durability, well, it all depends on how you personally handle the device. And how often do you use the device. I have a desktop, so I won't disturb it at all. But I won't…

I've got good news and bad news for you

If you're thinking of buying this you probably should, it's a piece of junk and you'll be happy with it. Yes, you got me right. If you're looking at this, you've come to the right place. Most of these Wi-Fi adapters use the Realtec 8812 chip (you'll see it as rlt8812 if you look). They are literally all the same whether you pay $14 or $150. Here at Revain, $14 is about the same as what you'll be going for, a little less, and you'll probably end up with something weird. If you look around you…
