Description of πŸ”§ Lisle 18980 Pneumatic U-Joint Driver Tool

Use the driver with an air hammer to remove u-joint caps up to 1-5/16" diameter. On some vehicles the u-joint is retained with plastic from the factory. The plastic must be removed prior to driving out the u-joint caps. Prevents damage to drive shaft and axle shaft ears, when presses or chisels are used

If you hate joints this is for you.

This is the perfect addition to my air hammer. I've had joint replacements and it makes me hate it. All the guys in my shop rent it because it works so well.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Can't remember

Don't waste your money

This is not a Lisle tool, this is a fake in a Lisle paper box. Garbage! don't waste money. I think someone is taking an old bait and replacing it with a lisle box and cheap imported tool.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Negative is present

Disappointed good for cardan

I had high hopes for this. It seemed well built, I just couldn't get it to work on the gimbal. I watched several videos online to see how to use it. Maybe my gimbal got stuck more than others, but it didn't work for me no matter how I used it. I returned it. Rewan was great.

Pros
  • Certified by GOLS
Cons
  • Damaged

Time is money - spare parts

After 40 years of time-consuming years of knocking out crosses And what a miracle: the first time I managed to get both clamps and both joints out of the driveshaft . drive shaft in less than 5 minutes. I then used this tool to install the U-joints and yokes in about the same amount of time.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • There are some nuances

That's exactly what you would expect.

Some reviews said to buy the port cargo version. Some said it wasn't really Lyle. So I went to the cargo port and they didn't have them in stock, grrr. Finally ordered this one. It really is Lisle, properly packaged and all. I use this to retract T-pillars, not gimbals. This is a hammer head made from thin base steel. Just buy it.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

another Chinese tool

this tool is the same as what you get from a thirty dollar port freight. only its $100 higher than that. It doesn't say Lisle anywhere on the tool, box or documents. Everything written there is Taiwan. I was lazy and didn't return it but I should have. I did a lot of research before buying one of these because I wanted to buy an American. It is not at all what is in the picture but exactly like a port cargo. Yes it works but save your money and just buy HF on sale for $30 and get the same…

Pros
  • high marks for tester support and durability
Cons
  • weak

A good tool makes removing U-joints a breeze.

I was about to give a 1 or 2 star rating when my air chisel started acting up so I wanted to replace it. When I got the new air chisel, this tool worked flawlessly. I used to get a new air chisel and use my old one (Harbor Freight), it took forever to see any results and sometimes they didn't even work. When I got the new air chisel (Husky) it took me literally 1 minute to remove the clutch and this tool worked great. My point is that before attempting this make sure you have a good air chisel…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Not bad

It really works F#*$KING

I was skeptical at first, no real usage videos related to the site and mixed reviews here. Let me get this straight, this ABSOLUTELY WORKS. 12 year old universal joints tossed out in a rusty driveshaft with little or no problem. The trick is to hold the opposing trunnion in a sturdy fixture like a vise, apply some penetrating lubricant and work with a QUALITY air hammer. Your $20 port freight won't help. I use a long barrel from Matco and it works great. To be honest the hardest part of the job

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Not trendy
