As long as I have this unpowered exit sign installed, it can be powered. The unit was placed on a wooden ledge above the exit door. I attached it with tape.

You need to know where the exit is. Or does your fire inspector need to know where the exit is? Either way, it will point you in the right direction. Works well, easy to install and the price is right.

Pretty cheap looking standard Chinese fare. However, it fires, runs and does its job sufficiently to pass inspection. How long it actually shines remains to be seen. Just take a look. Much cheaper than anything else so I expect a short lifespan.

If you want to keep the fire inspector happy and don't care about aesthetics, then this is your sign. I just installed it, it worked the first time but there is nothing to cover the cables with so they can be seen behind the red letters. Looks so decent you'll forget about cables as long as you don't look at the sign.

They're not built to last, but the price makes them more economical to replace a little sooner than expensive ones, which also don't work well in the salty air I live in. Local fire codes require that we have them. I ordered two of these and two other brands for the same price as ours. I will be returning other brand signs because they are thicker and easier to cut to fit the line.

Works as expected but it would be nice if the fitting and removal instructions weren't on the inside of the sign. Remove the "exit page" when trying to open it and access the instructions (I broke the little plastic tabs trying to open them). Installing to the ceiling and running wires through the mounting plate was awkward due to the tight fit. Overall it works, but probably won't buy it again because of the installation.

Installation is fairly easy. I read a previous review from someone who said that the wiring is visible and it is if you follow the directions and run the wiring in the block. I had 4 of these and found out on block 2. To keep the wires out of sight, route the wires from the hole in the block into the electrical box. Connect the wiring first, insert the wires into the box, fix the unit to the wall or electrical box. Good price and nice clean look.

Once installed this is a great little EXIT sign. But it's a little tricky to get to, as the instructions are nested *within* the light fixture, with no obvious, easy-to-follow way to open the light fixture to read it. I'm glad I didn't want to install a double-sided lens on the backplate because I've never been able to successfully remove the backplate. Reinstalling panels is also very cumbersome. However, once these difficulties are overcome, it is a great light. And you only need to install…
