This item has been a great find for me. Not surprisingly, finding Revain was easy and rewarding. I expect this to remain a long lasting product. I will recommend it to family, friends and others.

It won't hold blocks of salt without cutting them. I am disappointed with the design. And the one I received looks like it could have been returned sooner because it looks used.

As J. Baker pointed out, the holder is well built but would be more useful if a mechanism was provided to secure it. We wired it to a tree in an area frequented by deer (in our front yard) and put in a standard sized salt container with no problem. However, wire wrapped multiple times around a two foot diameter tree is not entirely aesthetically pleasing. I suspect the deer won't mind.

This holder is very well made. Unfortunately the design forgot to provide a way to hang it on a wall or tree. No tabs, nothing. You must create your own hanger. There are cheaper alternatives with better design - either vinyl coated or stainless steel with two hanging loops and screw holes. Look there. I will say that the seller was very accommodating when I returned it, so customer service is not an issue. This is the main reason I give more than 1 star.

I bought two of these halters for my daughter as she has several deer that walk through her property every morning and evening. We had a particularly harsh winter in 2011, so I know the deer liked the blocks of salt she laid out. The holders are better than another brand I bought a few years ago. They're made of metal and covered in durable vinyl so they won't rust from the weather or corrode from salt. The price is definitely reasonable and I received them quickly. A very pleasant deal.
