Good mini solar panel

Bought this for my car to keep a couple of my portable batteries charged. I take one with me in my work truck and leave the other in the parking lot at work and change them the next morning. So far it has kept them charged and almost refilled them (about 94-99%). My batteries have 22000 mAh. I have them hanging on my rear quarter window and the battery has a 3 foot USB cable. My only complaint is that it warped a bit due to the heat. This early spring we had a few days in 85-90F but it's still…

Best simple solar charging pad

This is exactly what I was looking for: a solar charger sufficient to charge a phone/extra battery, waterproof, small and comes without a battery pack. I agree with other users on how much power it puts out, but it's enough to charge a 5000mAh battery, which is all I wanted. As for the size, it's not a "paper" format, it's A5, or in American half a sheet: 8.5 x 5.5 ". It's better finished than I expected, with rounded corners and without sharp edges Edge makes it easy to clip in. Overall, a…

The lightest usable 5W panel.

This works surprisingly well for the price and size. The listed weight is correct at 2.9 ounces, but the power rating is overly optimistic. I think this will pass for the advertised 5W panel and I was able to measure almost 4W delivered to my battery in ideal conditions. As other reviewers have said, the USB port is easy to disable if the panel gets hot, so be careful when disconnecting! I wanted to remap this panel for use with a different voltage regulator, so I unplugged the USB connector…

Tiny! Is working! (for now) charges smartphone

I read other reviews and decided to give it a try. So far so good, the first day. I left my phone (Moto X) in the sun under the Shade device at first and it charged really well until the phone overheated and stopped charging. When I shaded my phone and left the Lixada panel in the bright afternoon California sun, the phone went from 50% to 100% in just over an hour. It worked about the same before it broke, so I'm happy with the speed of this device. It's small, compact and seems reasonably…

How to create a 5 star panel

This panel is very light (2.8 oz), fairly powerful (about 4-5W) and very inexpensive, perfect for ultralight touring. But it has one fatal flaw: the voltage regulator and USB connector are glued to the board with some of the weakest glue I've ever seen. Also, the USB connector protrudes over the edge of the panel, meaning there's no way to add a strain relief. As a result, the plate heats up and the connector falls off. Here's how to fix it. See pictures: 1. Make the panel nice and warm in the…

Panel for travelers on the Appalachian Trail!

Attention AT lovers, if you want to take the panel on a hike then this is it. First the reason for 3 out of 5 stars. One simple reason, it's described as a 10 watt solar panel. No, that is not so. The maximum I recorded (from multiple tests) was around 3.5 watts. It's a 5-watt panel, not a 10-watt panel, and that's generous. This is the reason for the lower rating. If this company changed the description from 10w to 5w I would give it all 5 stars. As a 10w panel it's 3 stars but a 5w panel is 5
