Description of Enhance Raspberry Pi's Power with LoveRPi PoE HAT (Compact & Non-Isolated)

ULTIMATE POWER OVER ETHERNET HAT FOR RASPBERRY PI 4: Deliver clean and reliable power to the latest Pi 4! Power-over-Ethernet is both simple, power efficient, and cost effective compared to having multiple power adapters. PoE power output must be within the budget of the switch when powering multiple boards. PoE switch and Raspberry Pi 4 Model B sold separately. STANDARDS COMPLIANT POWER OVER ETHERNET SWITCH REQUIRED: The network switch or power sourcing equipment (PSE) must be compliant with the IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at PoE standard, particularly section 33.4.1 with regards to PSE electrical isolation of the leads. "Passive PoE" (DC 24V or 48V) is not standards compliant and may cause damage to equipment. Some Ubiquiti switches do not provide provide proper isolation so please use the professional version!. BUILT FOR CLUSTER NODES: Simplify cable management and expand your on-premise cloud with POE! Power five, ten, twenty Raspberry Pi 4 Model B boards through a single POE switch. This PoE HAT was designed to exceed the power delivery standards set by the official Raspberry Pi PoE HAT and other products available on the market. VENTILATED CASE WITH COOLING FAN HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Do not use this product in an enclosed case without active air circulation. Airflow around the HAT and Raspberry Pi 4 Model B must be adequate to ensure performance and stable operation. EASY INSTALLATION AND BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE: Please remove all non-essential heatsinks including RAM/USB/Ethernet heatsink before seating the HAT! Supports the latest Raspberry Pi 4 as well as the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+.

Blow my new raspberry pi 4

blow my new raspberry pi 4 destroys POE controller defective Extra: noticed it's listed elsewhere on Revain for about $19 with lots of destruction reviews! Caution! It cost me a lot of damage!

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Factor set

Poor quality control

As you can see from the photo, the thermal synchro has not been properly maintained. A tube of hot melt glue costs 50% of the price of the goods. Maybe that's why they have so many flaws. These kinds of problems shouldn't exist, and they underline the "don't care" attitude.

Pros
  • One year probationary period
Cons
  • embarrassing

Bad kit. Mismatched GPIO and POE pin.

It doesn't matter how thin the product is or how insulated the Pro version is if it's unstable. The Pro version sits too loosely on the pins, creating tiny directional shifts that cause the hat to wobble and lose contact. When this happens, the power to the Pi goes on and off. I ordered a replacement thinking it might be a one off issue but the replacement has the exact same fault.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Protection

Just like Pi! on single board computers

Although designed for "Rospberry Pi" as stated on the box, it works well with Raspberry Pi 4b. processor heatsink. I had to remove the heatsink over the RAM, but the LAN and CPU heatsinks could stay. In general it seems stable. I connected it to a UniFi PoE switch. So far, so good. It's nice to be able to eliminate another cable. It also fits perfectly in the case that comes with the CanaKit. Just plug it in and plug in the LAN cable. Easy! Thanks very much!

Pros
  • Persistent test results
Cons
  • Some bugs

Fits CanaKit case with fan

Can't comment on durability as I just installed it but it works great. I believe this model (Pro) has the best design compared to all current and insulated models. As far as I can tell, this is the only model that will fit in a standard CanaKit case with the fan installed (see image). I had to remove the heatsink from the SDRAM. Most brands state that active cooling (fans) is required. PoE caps typically use the power connectors required for the fan. Unlike other brands, this board has extra…

Nice little poe board

I have used it on an RPi 3B+ connected to my Unifi Switch 8 150w with no power or connection issues. I am using a fanless Flirc case which requires some modification by sanding part of the inside of the case with a dremel to create a gap for the LoveRPi Poe board. You may or may not need to do this for other cases. I should also note that LoveRPi does not recommend using a fanless case with their board, but it seems to work fine for my application. The average temperature is around 52 degrees…

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • For a long time

The PoE hat is pretty good. It's small and sturdy, unlike some of its competitors. It slides right over the Pi very easily. But there is a BIG problem. This requires active cooling (fans) and most good cases (e.g. FLIRC and Argon One) don't have space for HATs. So when you buy this PoE hat, make sure you have a case that not only has a fan, but also has space for the hat. Every fan case I could find conflicted with HAT and didn't work together. If anyone has a great and professional looking…

Works great - computers and accessories

LoveRPI POE Compact Hat works great. It was a bit confusing how to attach the hat exactly. Without instructions you have to rely on pictures. In fact, the hat is worn on pins. I am attaching some photos so others can see how the hat is installed. The only downside is if you're trying to squeeze it into a case with a fan, or using a Raspberry that already has a heatsink installed on the processor or memory. There is a square component (capacitor?) that is close to the CPU and is quite high. If…

Thoughtful design but does something wrong with the power supply

Great PoE hat. It is very well thought out to take up as little space as possible. It's actually quite snug against the motherboard, allowing the fan to sit very snugly right above it. Case selection can be an issue due to the lack of margin for error. I chose Pi Tower because I plan to add more over time. This combination works. So if you think you need to build an army of Raspberry Pis in the near future, this is the path you should take. The PoE hat works well and is very comfortable. The…
