Lifetime Electrician Tool

I bought this unit to replace a cheap tool I bought a long time ago that has become unreliable. The Klein Tester is very high quality and durable. It looks like it's a tool for life.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Expensive

Works, but frustrating

Works, but the light is very dim. The probe was painted with non-conductive black paint. You must grind it down for the tester to work. A simple conductive coating would be much better.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Mediocre but cheap$

The cable is too short. The lightbulb works intermittently. Since the wire contact is crappy. No secure alignment or pull-out protection. This is definitely a bench testing tool. Not for the field or anything else off the bench.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Some problems

Looks good but doesn't work right out of the box

Delivered on time. Looks good but doesn't work right out of the box. To check I used another continuity tester on a multimeter. Top dollar for the usual quality but not this time. I bought a multimeter, it works fine too, but I left it for the tool box.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Slightly torn

A complete pile of junk.

A complete pile of junk. I'm an electrician and have tested every part of this tester for continuity, but it doesn't work when everything is assembled. Also, the coating they use on the probe doesn't conduct current, which completely defeats the purpose of a continuity tester.

Pros
  • Datura 🔥
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

The seller sent a used item instead of a new one.

The product has already been used and the original packaging was sealed with tape. The item's lightbulb had burned out and I had to urgently look for a replacement. Evidence that the item was in use was the presence of a battery, although the original item did not have a battery. It works but was presented as new.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

I had to fix it before I could use it

Here is a spring that is not attached to the bulb. Only under pressure did I have to work with it to get a good connection as the bulb went dim, bright, dim, bright. I finally got a good contact with him. I was expecting a bit more from Klein Tools as it was more expensive than other continuity testers, but the build quality isn't as good. However, it works.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Safety

Red is not the best choice for this application

Learn your lesson and stay away from test lights that aren't clear. Red is difficult to see when testing wires that can be damaged by a small current load. You can have 6 volts on a wire on a strand. It will glow, but you'll have to put your nose to it to see it. In normal use, it will glow normally. I just can't recommend it. Visibility is everything. You cannot diagnose what you cannot see.

Pros
  • The best
Cons
  • Was damaged
