Low density foam, not 2 " thick

I bought this mattress topper to cushion a very hard mattress. a few days before putting it on my bed (the instructions say 48 hours. I had high hopes that this topper would help me sleep well as my friend had a 2 inch memory topper on a similar mattress and he reported a huge improvement. Instead I woke up with sore hips. This memory foam topper is great. However, it is important to note that the topper's lavender scent was SUPER strong when it was first unpacked. Seriously, I'm pretty sure your whole house/apartment will smell like you're growing lavender plants in the same room once you open the plastic wrap. I really liked the smell - it was amazing! - but for my husband it was so overwhelming that he had to leave the house for a few hours as I opened the windows and let the smell spread. Nice scent, great comfort.

I'm not a fan of reviews but this product deserves one. I bought it about 3 weeks ago and loved it. I don't agree that it's too strong, but I also love lavender, eucalyptus, and peppermint oils. Prior to this topper I had a 3 inch gel topper (on my super firm mattress) that had great reviews but I still had back pain. I tried this one and it was perfect. We're not ready to pull the trigger to buy a nice trendy

I've been buying them back and forth for several weeks. Our mattress is old and worn but with a young child we are not willing to pull the trigger and buy a nice fancy new mattress that can end up pissing/pooing/vomiting.
