Just like a coffee grinder should be. I've cut tons of stone, steel, aluminum, plastic. and I always look forward to that. Starts smoothly, like a buta. The clutch keeps the flimsy cutting wheels from exploding and piercing my flesh. I can't speak for the guard because mine is long gone. Excellent ergonomics make this tool easy to hold in little hands and always under control. The materials appear to be of high quality, the power cord is of minimal length (ie extension cord). The side handle and mounting screw are secure and will not kink, twist or feel unsafe. It grinds quickly, efficiently and keeps an eye on the workpiece. 9566 has a different gear box than the 9564 and 9565 which are the same grinder with different sized guards. The 9566 rpm range has been reduced to 4000-9000, allowing the tool to work much longer and heat up less. This tool's soft start is the best of any grinder I've used and is much smoother than the 4 1/2" and 5" grinders Makita makes. It also has a lot more torque than most other 13 amp grinders. If Makita's warranty covered their stone tools, this would be the best grinder I've had in 16…
