disappointed with this head.

I use this to shoot from above with my Canon 5D on a C-stand - but twice the screw has been loosened enough that the camera falls off by itself. it just doesn't close tight enough, and those were really, really scary moments. Also, it's just not up to the task, it's quite fragile. So if you use a heavy camera/lens like I do, you might want to consider something more durable.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • There are problems

Purchased for Manfrotto monopod. This is a well designed and well built head unit. The quick release is good too. The small metal fuse is a nice touch. Haven't tried it in the field yet but so far it gives me confidence that it will be suitable for my travels and for use at major dog shows. Canon 70D, 18-200 zoom and motor drive (which is a reasonable weight) and it seems to handle it well.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons

Sharp tilt movement

Pros: very compact and lightweight but sturdy construction and nice features like a locking pin so you can't accidentally detach the camera. Disadvantages: The tilting movement is very hard. Cannot tilt the camera down or up smoothly. Bad experience in the field. The mounting plate is custom made, which means I now have to carry different plates in my bag. I would have preferred a standard Manfrotto tripod plate or at least a Swiss Arca plate. I can still work with this disk problem, but theโ€ฆ

on the way. The head is firm, with no movement when tightened. Fast shoes are reliable. To remove the quick release shoe, you need to slide the lever on the base and then push the pin down. During assembly, the pin and lever lock automatically. The quick release shoe also features a D-ring for easy attachment to the body/lens. As mentioned in other reviews, the head tilt is not adjustable. Once the head is released, the body will bend freely.

Pros
  • . Good product for the price.

  • . Some difficulties.

Excellent monopod head

I am very happy with this quick release head. I put it on my new Sirui P326 monopod and it's definitely preferable to using a ball head. I wanted to use it when I was super zooming in on the moon and birds in the trees. Vertical tilt is all I need because the monopod can be moved the other way if needed and it seems a lot more reliable than trying to attach the ball head. Very nicely done and I'm a part of the quick release plate system. It is very easy to put on and take off and secure once in

Rugged, simple: camera and photo

Like all Manfrotto products, you get solid durability. This tilt head is a very simple device that allows you to quickly attach/detach your camera or lens and TILT so you can position the monopod at an angle to your body for maximum stability. When using the monopod as described above, you CANNOT switch from landscape to portrait mode without changing the position of the remote control. It's a TILT head only and if that feature is desired a "pistol grip" or ball head mount will suit you better.

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • You could choose a newer model

I use this with a Manfrotto 294 monopod. There are three main benefits of adding this monopod to your setup: 1) It makes connecting to the camera much quicker and easier which was my motivation to use it to add. Now I can switch between tripod and monopod without removing the plate that I now attach to the camera body. 2) It adds the ability to rotate the camera 90 degrees left or right for portrait orientation. 3) Added 2 1/2 inches to the length of my monopod. The 294 monopod was too shortโ€ฆ

Manfrotto made in Italy! Good stuff.

I almost settled on an inexpensive aftermarket QD head that CAN be as good or better at 1/3 the price. But we use this gear in serious jobs where equipment failure can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars if a frame is missed. We use a Canon HF-G30 and HF G40 and they fit perfectly in the 234RC head. The Canon battery outlet is not blocked by the 234 node. Mounted on a Manfrotto Elemental monopod, it fits like the hand in a glove. Looks good, feels good, that's true. I like the "D" ring underโ€ฆ
