The carpet has a hump in a square box that is not aligned and has been there since I have it. Because of this, I can't use a third of the cutting mat. I've had this mat for 16 months and it's not healing itself. Maybe it was at first, but not anymore. I've used both sides and there are scars on each side that make using a disc cutter not as effective. There are also burrs on the edges from the cutter (the fabric is often wider than the mat) which now snags my fabric when it rolls up. I love this rug! This is perfect for my open folding table. When I'm not using it, I stow it under my bed in the spare room. It has some weight but I have severe back problems and can move it to the next room with no problem. I was concerned by some of the other reviews but couldn't find any issues.
