Since we are using it to dose detergent for rinsing by hand, the pump becomes harder and the dosed detergent is thrown out in a jet. It's hard to control. I had dish soap spilled on my clothes as well as other dishes drying in the adjacent separate sink. I do not recommend this product. These lids are great. We needed more of these covers after moving to a house with more bathrooms. They are better quality than the pair we previously bought. They appear to be more durable and less likely to break. The pump also makes more soap than our previous lids, so we don't have to press as hard as we used to to get the right amount of soap.
