I broke my ankle playing basketball and bought this for extra support. And even though he does, it's not enough. For Class 1, the safety strut is flexible enough. This will take you away from the small, everyday tweaks that some of us make, but nothing more. I mean everything else is great. It is comfortable on the feet, very light and does not cause any discomfort. But I don't think he will protect me, so I'll look elsewhere.

I bought this brace to add to my collection. This is the best at the moment. It's well built, washed many times, holds its shape and tension well. The edge seams are not thick like other braces. I sometimes wear this on my bare foot under a sock and it doesn't bother me. My other braces last about 8-10 hours before I have to take them off as they are irritating and seem to slow circulation. I am an old weirdo (64 years old) and as I age I get pain in my ankles and knees. I play in several leagues and sometimes my slipping ankle hurts me so I like to put a splint on it when I play. Overall I like this brace. This provides enough support for what I need. I severely sprained my ankle/foot over a month ago and it still hurts and arches/rolls on me.
