We have two rescue kittens and they love this scratching post because it's high enough for them to stretch out when using it. They're both leggy, so tall, and this pole gives them extra height to reach. One even tries to climb it. They got used to it immediately and use it several times a day.

I have 3 kittens who are around 12 weeks old. You are very active. It took them about two minutes to start trying out their new "toy". It's only been assembled a few days so I don't know how durable it will be, but it's stable enough for a jumping kitty to land and sit on top without the pole rocking or falling even if they are Play Queen on the Mountain and try to see who can last the longest at the top of the pillar.

When assembling the post I was surprised that the square base was not a solid element. It's actually two rectangular pieces connected with hinges that you unfold to form a square base. Shortly after I assembled it, my cat tried to sharpen his claws but the post wobbled and leaned toward him, which put him off for days. Now, six days later, he has rediscovered it.
