Buy now! :) on Teaching Clocks

LOVE LOVE LOVE. I work with autistic kids and these shoes are EVERYTHING! We worked step by step to tie shoelaces and finally we could see the results! I like this shoe because it's cleaner than your average hiking shoe and is heavy enough to stay in place and work at your desk.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel

Learn to bind! good for learning watch

This adorable 'shoe' was a great way to teach my 4 year old how to tie a tie! The colorful and large display is ideal for small children. My only criticism is that the suction on the sole of the shoe or a heavier sole would have made it a bit firmer so you don't have to hold a second person or stagger around when tying your boots. .Overall a great product. 4/5 stars for sure!

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities

Kids love exercising in these shoes!

A trick I found on an online site is to lace it up and then tie it the traditional way. When you get to where you want the cord to go through the hole next to the loop, tie a knot there. This inspires children and helps them bond more strongly from the start. Another suggestion: Always make sure the shoes are facing away from the student, just like their shoes. If they get it right, they can turn around and practice helping others. I use this for K-2 students. class with special education…

Great product for occupational therapy!

This is a cute and attractive tool that can be used in occupational therapy when teaching children how to tie shoelaces. I've always loved Melissa & Doug products, from toys to puzzles. They are very popular in the occupational therapy community when working with adults and children. Children can easily manipulate and grab the laces. Adults always complement the modern/retro style of the shoe, making it attractive to all ages. Thank you for such a wonderful, beautiful and inexpensive product…

I love shoes, not lace

Lace doesn't fit small hands. I replaced ours with a wide flat tip. The spare was not tied on top, but that has nothing to do with tying the shoes. I saw in other reviews that they should have just used the shoes at home. I do not agree. My son only wears velcro until he can tie himself. I will not give him old adult shoes to play with. I also have a special needs child who will benefit in the future. With the new flat shoelaces, he managed the first step in a few minutes. He couldn't do…

It was a very cute little gift for our niece

It was a very cute little gift for our niece. She's three years old and seemed a bit young for the 'learning to tie shoelaces' aspect, but loved playing with her like a wooden shoe toy. We lent her the string and she still enjoys playing with it. As with many Melissa & Doug toys, it's great to see children enjoy playing with things that don't require batteries, lights or music. One note: It's quite heavy/clunky. I guess that means it's well done, but I couldn't help but have paranoid visions of

Does the trick - it helps to dye half of the tip a different color first.

This has helped my kids - it could be improved with a few simple changes - 1) It would be helpful to use lace half one color and half the other to help the child see the difference between the two sides B. by manipulating the lace to make a loop - ideally it should also include a solid color lace so kids can go there and not rely on half the lace. I put a permanent marker on one side of our lace but let's just say it rubs off, although I used a brand marker so my kid hands look like they're…
