My son loves these shoes. This is our second pair. The first pair of insoles wore out around the time he outgrew the shoes, but the shoes themselves still had plenty of time to live. The shoes were originally bought for hiking and trekking but are now his everyday shoes. He loves the barefoot feel of the shoes, their grip on slippery rocks and the fact that they are waterproof yet breathable.

Merrell athletic shoes have become my favorite brand for little boys. They are well built, attractive, STRONG and have a very comfortable fit. I recommend ordering half a size larger. Merrell keeps licking and kicking for the little tough guys. They hold up much better than other big brands.

Looking for waterproof shoes for my active 6 year old (he's tall!) and it fits the needs. The sizing was confusing, but the size 2 is really a kid size, not a kid size 2. He loves that the lower links look like octopus suckers.

Agree with the other reviewer. These shoes are very heavy, very strong, even tough. We're not very familiar with hiking, so we can't comment on this performance. We are looking for casual shoes for school. Getting in and out is not easy either. The child didn't like her.

I love Merrell shoes. Look at the Merrell shoe size chart, not the general size. Merrell size is feet length, my grandson is 6.5 inches, I chose size 12 wide.

During the pandemic we have started to hike more and at the same time our daughter has outgrown her sneakers. Her school required black trainers, so they were the perfect pair for double duty. She loves them and says they are so comfortable!

SUPER heavy and VERY stiff. When my son tried on the shoes, he would thump in them, he felt uncomfortable and the heavy gait was so noisy! I had to send them back. MAYBE for hiking, but they're heavy, so I think the little guy would have an even harder time.
