Sneakers that last.

I'm so glad Merrell brought this design back - these shoes are almost a clone of the old design with some tweaks. They have excellent cushioning and are good as a hiking shoe, light hiker or for business - whatever it is. My older pair, which they are modeled after, served me well on long-distance hiking trips through Europe. It took a few years to finally phase them out, mostly because they still look amazing. Hope for the same performance here.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Good quality casual/walking shoes

Great lightweight shoe and appears to be very well made. I love the fit and wear them as my new everyday shoes. Very comfortable, gray with a bright light orange tint.

Pros
  • comfortable item
Cons
  • expensive insurance

Trendy casual sneakers

Merell hiking boots fit my foot so well that I bought them when I needed a casual sneaker that would go well with jeans. They're a bit narrower than hiking boots and the buckles feel weird at first, but once worn they feel good. These are not trekking shoes. It seemed obvious to me from the pictures. I don't know why they are sold as running shoes. Maybe to sell them to people who like the idea of hiking, who don't actually hike but still want to make a fashion statement. don't want to try. But

Narrow foot pad makes terrible walker

I love the look but the sole is so narrow you can't walk let alone hike. I've worn them on a moderate route and sprained my ankles almost a dozen times.

Pros
  • understandable even for old folks
Cons
  • Tradable

DO NOT wear them on the trail!

Side-to-side tread patterns will crush your ankle in mud, ice or snow. Nothing prevents sideways slipping on slippery surfaces. Also, the front lip came off during the first ride. They do look good though and should be fine for social distancing or Subaru driving.

Pros
  • Special Offer
Cons
  • Functionality
