. The telescopic antenna doesn't work well for me because I'm too far from the transmitting antennas in my area. This antenna greatly improved the signal. I didn't use a porthole window - I just connected the 2 parts together and fixed the antenna to the wall. I might install it outside one day, but inside it seems to be working fine now.

Do not buy this antenna for your home or car! The seller did not mention that this item will not work properly on double glazed windows. With many new homes and apartments now having double glazed windows, this doesn't work properly. If you put this on your car, the description doesn't say you have to take it off every time you go through a car wash. I'm only giving this thing 2 stars because I managed to get it to work but not as intended. Otherwise it would have gotten 1 star because Revain doesn't allow NEGATIVE stars.
