No online or phone support

I have literally bought thousands of dollars of Midland products. I have submitted many questions about these products to Midland's online support site. I haven't received any replies. I've called Midland tech support multiple times. I just waited on hold for 58 minutes and then disconnected. Anyone who expects support from the Midland will not get it.

It's good if you're in the same camp, but only once.

You are good when you are in the same camp, but as soon as you start building walls between yourself and others, static electricity starts to appear. - Air conditions, so no range should be expected. But even 1/4 mile from one building to another the quality drops off significantly. UPDATE: The battery life is terrible. Bought 10 pairs a little over a year ago and most of the batteries are completely dead. They show full charge but as soon as you press PTT the radio behaves as if it is off andโ€ฆ

No customer service for product issues

Midland was our choice for walkie-talkies. No longer. I ordered this kit to prop up our Airstream RV so my wife could point me in the direction from the outside of the truck. I charged the devices before leaving our house and they worked. Two months before leaving for a hike, I charged the devices and when we needed them, a walkie-talkie wouldn't turn on. So back home I'll check what the problem is and reload. Then I checked again if the problem was solved and the same walkie-talkie would notโ€ฆ

Not what I was hoping for.

I thought I did some research but I missed a lot of other data. After purchasing and testing the Midland LXT600 in a suburban area with trees and houses, the best communication distance is less than 1 mile. After researching more about FRS and GMRS I found a page with more details on expected frequency and distance. Visit the BuyTwoWayRadios website for a good explanation of the frequency and distance charts. If you have a communication line you can increase the distance, but with obstaclesโ€ฆ

Do not buy. Range figures are complete nonsense.

I don't even know how this manufacturer has the audacity to say they have a 30 mile range. I know range is affected by obstacles and interference so I wasn't expecting to be 30 miles from them. However, I expected to be able to use them in my area. I took one to work, exactly 2.5 miles from here. We tried them at this distance and no luck. So there's a certain level of civilization between my home and my work, so I thought, okay, maybe that's too much interference. So I brought it home andโ€ฆ

Background: I have decided to use this radio set specifically for communication between a bride for buying a wedding in USA while he was in the family, chasing a car to a limousine on the freeway, and an indoor reception to the honeymoon home (a separate building about 500 feet away). It was about 3 days of research and searching before you settled on this walkie talkie set. First I was looking for a very cheap and sophisticated radio, similar to the $500+ radios I use for work, made by ourโ€ฆ

Good radios with clear sound. I like her!

I like Midland products. I find they are generally better than cheap Motorolla radios. The FCC ID of this radio is MMALXT600PA. An internet search for a test report shows that the maximum transmit power is 450mW on FRS and 740mW on GMRS. I use them all over the house and they have great clarity. So far they seem like great "cheap" radios. They came with rechargeable blocks, which comes in handy when kids leave them on and drain the batteries. when they fail. I will use rechargeable AAA.PROโ€ฆ
